You may have noticed the huge title up there with this catchy acronym: IoT.
Well, what is it then ?
The Internet of things (IoT) is the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices. Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity, and other forms of hardware (such as sensors), these devices can communicate and interact with others over the Internet, and they can be remotely monitored and controlled.

- Smart cars
- Connected sensors on power grids
I have been working in this domain mixing web technologies, software and hardware since 2014.
Most of my projects were focused around combining both cloud applications and physical devices to create a novel solution for the given problematic.
A typical application involves:
- One or more Electronic Device(s)
- Its Firmware (software)
- A way to Connect it to Internet
- A Backend (Server application)
- A Website or Mobile App
Naturally, a large variety of tools and programming languages are involved in this process. I try as much as I can to pick the most appropriate tool for the job.
Regarding languages and frameworks:
- Golang or Typescript for backend development
- Serverless (CDK) and Containers (Docker) for backend microservices
- React (or sometimes Angular) on the frontend
- AWS for deployment and CI/CD (with Gitlab)
- Python for scripting, DSP prototyping, algorithms design
- Dart/Flutter for mobile application development
- C for firmware programming
- Bash when shell scripts are needed
- Altium (or Eagle) for Printed Circuit Board design
